PlanetBox is designed to keep foods from “touching each other.” When you close your PlanetBox the top and the bottom meet so that foods will not co-mingle, even when carried and stored on its side. The seal on the PlanetBox itself is not designed to hold wet, messy foods like yogurt, dips, and applesauce. The tall dipper included is the best option to use for foods such as these. They have a silicone rubber seal that engages when placed inside the PlanetBox to create a tight leak-proof seal.

you are making a difference:

  • Helps save money, time and packaging waste going to landfill.

These types of stainless steel have been used for food storage in many cultures for generations, and are preferred materials for hospitals, commercial kitchens, and other environments where sanitation is a priority. Help! I have spots on my lunchbox?

Please see the following information taken from the PlanetBox website:

Some background: On rare occasion we have heard from customers that their PlanetBox is ‘rusting’. They say that what appears on the surface of the lunchbox – usually on the top lid – is rust and it does not wash off.  PlanetBox is made from high grade stainless steel. This type of material is highly resistant to oxidization (rusting).

How you can remove spots:

Corrosion Spots:  Corrosion spots can be easily cleaned up with either some super fine steel wool and a little elbow grease, or a paste of baking soda and vinegar.

Fine Steel Wool: Start by washing your PlanetBox very well under running water. Then take some Super Fine Steel Wool (#000 is one such ranking) and start by lightly buffing the spotted area. Often times it just takes a few strokes under light pressure to remove the spots. If that doesn’t do it, then proceed to work the surface harder with the steel wool pad. This may cause very minor scratches to the surface of the lunchbox, but the tradeoff is that it will almost always remove the offending spots – with no damage to your lunchbox. Rinse with running water as you are going and within no time you’ll have a shiny new PlanetBox to use and enjoy for years more to come.

Baking Soda and Vinegar:   Make a thick paste of baking soda and vinegar, and leave on for at least an hour.   Try scrubbing it with a sponge and/or some fine steel wool.  Rinse and dry.

How should I look after my PlanetBox?

Wash and dry after each use with a chlorine free detergent. The PlanetBox is dishwasher safe.

The Magnets, if they get wet, can cause rust.  The Magnets should be removed from the box when not in use and always kept dry.  The Magnets should not be used inside the box, only on the lid.

If you need any further assistance please send your order details, a brief description of the issue and an image/video through to shop@biome.com.au

Brand story

Parents Robert and Caroline Miros started Planetbox in 2009. They wanted a better solution for school lunches, one that was durable, long lasting, safe and zero-waste. Stainless steel proved to be the perfect material, and internal dividers meant that foods could be separated with no wraps or bags.

Today, Planetbox is one of the leading eco-conscious lunchbox companies in the world.

Planetbox now offers the original style insulated Carry Bag along with the Lunch Tote and Lunch Sack. The main magnet sets are now Mix & Match sets that can be used on any stainless steel lunch box or container, not just Planetbox.

    Worth the wait

I’ve been contemplating purchasing these for years but the cost put me off. When the lunchboxes we’ve been using for a number of years finally died I looked at all of the available options & decided I’d rather spend the money on these now than have to replace many lunchboxes over the coming years.

Other than being a bit heavy, my boys are happy with them so far.

    Well worth buying

We've had this lunch box for 6years. It's easy to clean and able to fit a variety of snacks within it. Well worth buying as you won't have to buy replacements, like I've seen many of my friends have to do for their kids.

    My Favourite Lunchbox

I love this lunchbox. It is big enough to fit a variety of different foods and has greater depth than the rover planetbox. I use this box daily.
