Torju
Torju is a certified organic label that prides itself on fair trade standards, sustainability and holding high ethical principles. Inspired by the natural, raw beauty of the Victorian coastline, Torju is committed to creating quality fashion for the environmentally and ethically aware consumer.
Torju garments are made in India or China in socially compliant factories certified by SA8000, Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS), FLO-CERT or Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). They prohibit the hiring of employees that are under 18 years of age. A proof of ID of all employees is required at the time of recruitment. Holidays are offered along with national holidays/festival holidays. One day off is provide for every seven-day period. Paid leaves is available for employees.
HEALTH CARE: Torju factories have a safe and healthy work place policy in place. This is mandatory with the health and safety laws, (Factory act 1948). Check points are closely monitored and regulated to ensure its standards are consistent. The factory is dedicated in maintaining a productive workplace by minimizing the risk of accidents, injury and exposure to health risks.
Staff are not forced to work more than they should. The factory prohibits the use of all forms of forced labour, including provision labour, bonded labour, slave labour and any form of human trafficking.
LIVING WAGES: With the help and support of a consultant from a Non Government Organisation (NGO), they assess the average living wage, on the bases of local food and living costs.
