It seems that the pharmaceutical and supplement companies who produce and profit from selling products in blister packs need to get a very clear message that their customers do not want to them to go to waste.
These rich companies with an abundance of clever people working for them have had many years to address this problem, but have not. They have left it to small businesses like Biome to take on the responsibility and cost. It's farcical when you compare their billion-dollar revenue with our comparatively minuscule sales.
When Craig Reucassel of War on Waste stepped up to help solve Biome's problem, he suggested that we stop accepting blister packs, and instead encourage people to send them back to the manufacturers who produced them in the first place.
Taking end-of-life responsibility for your products is not a new concept. In fact, the OECD and some countries have mandated it. And any company that is sprucing about its "commitment to sustainability" must deal with the waste caused by its products.
Below are some addresses of the major pharmaceutical companies in Australia to send your empty blister packs back to. Of course, always include a kind thank you letter, politely asking them to make sure that the resources are recycled. Being unkind never works. Their social media handles are below also for a polite message on socials.
